While the United States inflation rate fell in June, issues remain over rate rises increasing once again due to the restored dispute in the Middle East.

Driving British Mid-Market Expansion for 2026

The UK's economy grew by 0.5% in February, according to data from the Office for National Stats (ONS). The figure easily beat the consensus forecast of simply a 0.1% increase, indicating the economy remained in better health than believed by many economists. The reading was based on information from before the break out of war in the Middle East that sent energy costs rising and shook confidence across the economy.

Previously today, the UK saw the biggest cut to its annual development forecast from the IMF among sophisticated economies, with the figure now expected to be down from 1.3% last year to simply 0.8%. Another concern is that the reading being up until now off projections might suggest the figures are being misshaped by seasonality, or other issues in how the data is collected.

"Although the study proof showed an acceleration in output, no expert expected the 0.5% month-on-month surge. "On a yearly basis, growth got from 0.7% to 1.0% as a strong February made up for a disappointing end to 2025. "Regretfully, the start of the Iran war on 28 February will stop the upswing in its tracks.
